In the spirit of compassion, gratitude, and commitment to the families of those who have dedicated their lives to safeguarding the nation, the President of the Defence and Police Officers' Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs Oghogho Gwabin Musa's unwavering commitment and love has initiated a donation of Landed properties by the Promiseland Estate to some military widows in Abuja.
At the emotional event which took place today, Saturday, 13th January, 2024 at the DEPOWA Secretariat, Abuja, Mrs Musa said the presentation of plots of land is aimed at adding value to the lives of widows of fallen heroes through the Chief Executive Officer of the Promiseland Estate, Mr Lawrence Emmanuel Oloche.
She recall that on the 12th of December 2023, the CEO of Promiseland Estate pledged to give widows of fallen heroes 10 plots of land through DEPOWA and today, we are gathered to witness the redemption of this pledge by the real estate firm.
Mrs Musa who also donated a token of 500,000 Naira each to beneficiaries noted that 10 widows which cuts across various associations under DEPOWA are beneficiaries of the gesture. It is imperative to mention that the documents will be in the names of the widow’s children.
Quoting from Elie Wiesel nugget, She said “Without memory, there is no culture, without memory, there would be no civilization, no society, no future” Hence this year’s event provides an opportunity to reminisce on the sacrifice made by our fallen heroes. It is indeed special to me being my first in this capacity as the President of DEPOWA. It equally provides a unique opportunity to put a smile on the faces of our fallen heroes."
She thanked the CEO of Promiseland Estate and his management for the great act of benevolence, undoubtedly, she stressed, "This will not only provide shelter for the widows but will also create a deep sense of belonging amongst the widows.
"On this note, today’s immediate accomplishment for which we are assembled here underscores the determination of the DEPOWA to continue to do everything within its purview in assisting and positively impacting the lives of widows and orphans. We equally appreciate and respect our fallen heroes for their sacrifice. We are here not to mourn them but to praise them for the ultimate sacrifice of love they have made."
Earlier in his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer CEO of Promiseland Estate, Amb. Lawrence Oloche [MON] ably represented by the Head of the Corporate Communication Manager, expressed his deepest appreciation to the brave men and women of the Nigeria Armed Forces. He said, their unwavering commitment and sacrifices to ensure the safety of Nigerians have left an indelible mark in Nigerians hearts. "As we approach the Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day on January 15th, 2024, let us take a moment to reflect on the profound impact of their service."
He urged Nigerian to continue to work hand in hand to create a society where the sacrifices of heroes are never forgotten, and their families are always cared for.
He noted that this gesture is a small token of Promiseland Estate immense appreciation for the sacrifices made by fallen heroes and their families. These plots symbolize Promiseland commitment to supporting and uplifting those who have faced the harsh realities of loss and hardship.

Also in her remarks, the President Military Widows Association (MiWA), Mrs Veronica Aloko thanked the DEPOWA President and the CEO of Promised Land Estate for reaching out to all military widows to give them hope and ensure that they live a stable life after their husbands' death.
MiWA is an initiative that strives to provide for and protect the families of fallen heroes. The organization is dedicated solely to the needs, concerns and welfare of military surviving spouses and dependent children.
DEPOWA’s distinctive structure of affiliate associations enables it to effectively address pressing needs within the barracks and surrounding communities.
Mrs Musa highlighted DEPOWA’s history of making a meaningful impact on women, youth, and the less privileged through various initiatives such as empowerment programmes, sponsorships, donations, and training.
