President DEPOWA Flags Off Distribution of Palliatives To Widows at Army 6 Division, Port Harcourt

The President Defence and Police Officers' Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs Oghogho Gwabin Musa as part of her humanitarian activities flagged off the distribution of Palliatives to widows of fallen heroes in commemoration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration 2024 on 11 January 2024 at the 29 Battalion Parade Ground, Port Harcourt Barracks.

The President DEPOWA stated that the event is dedicated to the wives of fallen heroes and commended the widows for their resilience and urged them to key into the programmes of DEPOWA as it offers them the opportunity to be self employed and also affords their children to be entrepreneurs.

Also at the event, the Chief of Defence Military Relations Admiral IA Dewu further emphasized the need for more support to wives of fallen heroes which is a display of compassion and solidarity, he stated that the strength and resilience of the wives would never go unnoticed.

Giving a vote of thanks on behalf of all the widows, the wife of late Lieutenant Commander SO Lasisi, a victim of the 1991 ill-fated Charley 130 air crash, Mrs Folake Lasisi thanked the President Defence and Police Officers' Wives Association and her team for their generousity which makes them have a sense of belonging despite the absence of their husbands.

In the same vein, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division and Land Component Commander Joint Task Force South South Operation Delta Safe Major General Jamal Abdussalam received the President DEPOWA and her entourage at the 6 Division Headquarters on a courtesy call where he appreciated the visit and further urged DEPOWA to sustain the tremendous impacts the association is making in the lives of widows and the vulnerable.
