In a resolute stance against illicit activities in the maritime domain, the Nigerian Navy, led by Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, has again achieved a significant breakthrough in Operation Water Guard.

Employing advanced intelligence, the NNS BEECROFT Patrol Team intercepted and confiscated over 500 jerrycans, each containing 50 litres of suspected stolen Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in the Badagry area of Lagos state.

The operation underscored the Navy’s1 commitment to enforcing maritime security.0 Despite suspects evading capture by jumping into the water, legal constraints prevented the use of force during the pursuit.

The Navy is now focused on identifying there are masterminds and locating storage facilities involved in this large-scale illicit operation.

Some confiscated products were discovered in houses in Badagry, prompting authorities to issue stern warnings instead of immediate destruction due to potential harm to vulnerable populations. Rear Admiral MB Hassan urged fuel station authorities in Badagry to intensify monitoring to prevent the sale of stolen products.

Simultaneously, the Navy launched a subset of Operation Water Guard, the Clarence Operation, concentrating on the NNPCL pipeline right of way from Atlas Cove to Ijegun. This initiative aims to reactivate pipelines inactive for three months, contributing to the nation’s economic prosperity.

Rear Admiral MB Hassan reaffirmed the Navy’s unwavering dedication to eliminating illegalities in the maritime domain, emphasizing Vice Admiral EI Ogalla’s visionary leadership in safeguarding the nation’s waters.
