In a bid to safeguard the safety and security of FCT residents, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has inuagurated two combined security task groups.
The FCT Command's Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba said this during a press conference on the conclusion of the FCT Security Council meeting on Friday in Abuja.
According to Garba, one of these, was a Joint Task Force on "one chance" activities, made up of all the security services in the FCT.
He added that the other is a Joint Task Force to stop armed robbery, kidnapping, and all other types of criminal activities within the FCT and its surroundings.
He claims that the objective is to drive away criminal elements from the FCT, end transnational crimes, and rein in "one chance" activity there.
"This afternoon, the FCT security council meeting, presided over by Wike, met to examine strategies for ensuring safety and security in the FCT. After investigations are complete, several of the "one chance" operators have been detained and will likely face legal action.
He gave the FCT's citizens assurance that he was determined to reduce crime in the FCT and its surroundings. The task force will severely restrict the actions of "one chance" elements in the FCT, the commissioner told the residents of the FCT.
