Army Strengthens Partnership With NIPSS, to Develop A Workable Module of Non-Kinetic Method For Peacebuilding

The Chief of Army Staff, (COAS), Lt General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja has pledged that he will direct the Nigerian Army Resource Centre to develop a full workable module that the Nigerian army can be proud of, for a non-kinetic method of operation and will strengthen partnership with National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos for peacebuilding.

The army Chief gave the pledge when he played host to the Director General National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos, Professor Ayo Omotayo, a Professor of Environment of Sustainability, and his principal management staff on Monday at Army Headquarters, Abuja.

Lt General Lagbaja revealed that the Nigerian Army NA will take a holistic look in addressing security challenges as kinetic approach operation is 30 per cent of its Kinectic efforts, while the kinetic effort is 70 per cent.

He further promised that the Nigerian Army will continue to forge partnerships with the National Institute in one of such areas, by developing the module for the non-kinetic approach, to combating the security challenges. 

He said the Nigerian Army will continue to forge and expand, collaboration and partnership with the national Institute so that all issues related to, not only security but other areas of National Interest will be properly addressed. 

The COAS said the the army will work with other ministries, departments and agencies towards implementation of the Strategies and policies that outlined, peaceful and prosperous issues.

The Army Chief also said the Nigerian Army NA is concerned about the security situation in Plateau State, even though NA troops were deployed in some strategic areas the National Institute will also be secured as the NA will focus attention on the national Institute to protect participants of the institute. 

"We will enhance the security of the National Institute, and Government institutes all around Plateau State. The overall aim is to have Peace and security in Plateau State," he noted

Earlier in his remarks, the Director General National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos, Professor Ayo Omotayo lauded the Nigerian army for adopting the principle of democracy amidst insecurity and crisis across the country, urging them to run a non-kinetic method of operations to safeguard the territorial integrity of the nation. 

He also urged the Nigerian Army NA to engage more in a non-kinetic approach to peacebuilding as the institute also runs courses on the non-kinetic method of peace building and this is necessary at this time. He urged NA to develop a complete and full modeule of non-kinetic operations. Not only for Nigeria but for other services, that is the armed forces of Nigeria.
