Nigerian Army field commanders have been charged to ensure the maintenance of platforms and equipment provided by the Federal Government to prolong their life span and enable the nation to optimize its investment as the Nigerian Army continue to procure and induct more sophisticated platforms and equipment into the various theatres as force multipliers.
Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja said this while declaring open, the the Second and Third Quarters Conference for the Year 2023 which is his maiden quarterly conference as the Chief of Army Staff at the Army Headquarters Command Officers' Mess 1, Asokoro, Abuja.
The conference offers participants an opportunity to review decisions taken during the Chief of Army Staff First Quarter Conference 2023, conducted under the past leadership.
The COAS also disclosed the establishment of some Special Forces units for operational effects, using specially trained personnel to tackle various criminalities across the Country.
The COAS in his remarks said the Special Forces units have continued to record impressive performances through intelligence-led operations and the use of special equipment.
He also charged all field commanders to continue to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects as a committed force and to align with the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that the Armed Forces and other security agencies should decisively deal with all security challenges facing the Country.
The COAS also reminded field commanders that the enemies they fight are emboldened by weakness; strength is what keeps them standing back. He therefore, tasked them to be willing, able, and ready to project an appropriate level of force to confront situations as they develop across the Country.
