The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has approved compensation of N825.819 billion for indigenes of FCT Abuja, for the construction of the 4.2km second runway at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

The decision followed a negotiation meeting with the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, officials of both ministries, and representatives of their agencies, as well as stakeholders from Jiwa, the affected community in Abuja on Tuesday.

Nyesom Wike said the money was an incentive for the residents to vacate the community and solicited their cooperation towards the completion of the runway project.

He directed the contractors to resume work as the approved fund would be released as soon as possible.

Nyesome Wike also mentioned that a 5-kilometer bridge would be constructed in the Tunga Madaki community with modern health care facility provided in the temporary resettlement site for the indigenes.
