Rivers Governor Fubara Urges Army to Remain Apolitical, Pledges Continuous Support

The Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara has charged the Army to remain professional and apolitical, noting that peace and tranquility are the basis for development.

Governor Fubara gave the charge when the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander Joint Task Force (South South) Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), Major General Jamal Abdussalam led some commanders on a courtesy visit to His office.

Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Iweha Ikedichi In a statement said the Governor complimented the Army for their role in the security architecture of the state hinted at an expansion geared towards covering the nooks and crannies of the entire state, pledged continuous support to the Nigerian Army. 

Governor Siminalayi Fubara called on the army to step up operations as the government was eager to equally deliver on it's mandate to the people.

Earlier, the GOC stated that he was at the Government House to pay courtsey visit to the Governor having assumed command of the Division. He thanked the government of Rivers State for their support in operations and solicited for even greater cooperation going forward.

The GOC pledged the professionalism of the Army and improved support in the area of security while calling for the cooperation of the good people of Rivers State.
