Kaduna: Army Chief Calls for Mobilisation Of Critical Stakeholders to Support Military in Uprooting Seeds of Insecurity

The Chief of Army Staff, (COAS), Major General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja has appealed for the mobilisations of the critical stakeholders, traditional rulers, the clerics to support the military to uproot the seed of insecurity and criminality in Kaduna State.

The COAS made the appeal when he received the Excecutive Govenor of Kaduna states,  Senator Uba Sani today Tuesday 11 July 2023 at the Army Headquarters Abuja.

The COAS thanked the Govenor for all the support rendered by the Kaduna State which led to the restoration of people and stability in the state.

Giving testimony of the magnitutude of support from Kaduna State, Major General Lagbaja affirmed that he had good working relationship with Kaduna State executives while he was the GOC 1 Div which assisted the Nigerian Army operation in the stride to rid the community of criminality. He further solicited for the same support for the new GOC Maj. Gen Bamidele Alabi.

Major General Lagbaja thanked the Govenor for infrastructural support the army received from the state as Army is ready to restore stability in Kaduna State and adjoining states.

He also thanked the Governor for being the first governor to visit the COAS since his assumption of duty as the 23rd COAS while assuring the Governor and the good people of Kaduna State of continued military effort to achieve peace and stability in Kaduna State. 

Earlier in his remarks, the governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani asserted that he was at the Army Headquaters to congratulate the COAS for his appointment and to express his appreciate to the Army Chief for an unprecedented performance while he was the GOC 1 Div. Nigerian Army, Kaduna.

He said the visit has afforded them the opportunity to have feedback on what is happening in Kaduna adding that Kaduna State is the base of military. He requested more Intervention in Southern Kaduna under Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) where there are cases of banditry and kidnapping.

Senator Uba Sani also expressed his appreciation to COAS for Securing Kaduna to Abuja road and the general area. He also extended the message of the good people of Kaduna State, expressing this optimism for the consolidation and the solid foundation Major General Lagbaja made in Kaduna.

He pledged to support the Nigerian Army and other Security agencies in securing the state asserting that Security is everyone's in bussiness.

According to reports, the Southern Kaduna Crisis is part of a series of ethnicity conflicts in Nigeria. It is tied in with issues of religious and ethnic tension and the Fulani herdsmen crisis, as well as the growing tide of banditry and general insecurity particularly in the north of the country.
