Insurgency: Kwara Govt Commends Nigeria Army



The Kwara Government has expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Army for her role in the fight against insecurity, insurgency and other related security issues in the country.

Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara made the commendation while receiving the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division, Ibadan, Maj-Gen. Valentine Okoro, in Ilorin on Tuesday.

AbdulRazaq, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi, acknowledged the sacrifices and dedication to service by the officers of the Nigerian Army and indeed all other security forces in the country.

He noted the attendant effects of insecurity to include economic stagnation, panicking, poverty and loss of lives, among other negative effects.

He expressed the readiness of administration to join hands with security agencies to rid the state and the country at large of the threats to peace and national security.

“Your efforts go a long way to maintain the peace we enjoy. You have sacrificed everything to ensure our safety.

“We appreciate your efforts on the national security. We believe you are winning the fight against insurgency,” he said.

Earlier, the GOC explained that he was in the state on a familiarisation mission to 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi, as one of the formations and units under his command.

Okoro expressed delight at the robust working relationship between the government of Kwara and the Nigerian Army, adding that such cooperation will bring about more desirable results to the people.

He stated that the Nigerian Army is poised and ready to drive security and confront all forms of insecurity bedeviling the state and nation. (NAN)
