223 Battalion Soldiers Rescue 24 Kidnapped Victims, Kill Abductors in Zamfara

In a ferocious fire fight that ensued between the troops of 223 Battalion, operating under Sector 1 of Joint Task Force, North West Operations Hadarin Daji and notorious bandits at Kabugu Lamba; an abandoned village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara state, North West Nigeria, the gallant troops have resuced twenty four (24) kidnapped civilians and neutralized four (4) bandits.

The rescue operation, according to Army Spokesperson Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu was conducted in the early hours of today 7 July 2023.

The rescued 24 kidnap victims, including a child, were said to be residents of that abandoned village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara state, North West Nigeria.

The army Spokesperson noted that the rescued operation was led by the Commanding Officer of the Battalion, who positioned gallant troops to stalked and swooped on the bandits.

He noted that the victims, including a minor, 9 females and 14 males have been extricated and evacuated from the kidnappers' hideout by the troops.
