President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of Mr. Nuhu Ribadu as Special Adviser on Security and seven Others.
Ribadu’s return to government
Ribadu, who served as the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from 2003 to 2007, is widely respected for his efforts to fight corruption and recover stolen assets. He was forced out of office by former President Umaru Yar’Adua and later went into exile after facing charges of corruption himself, which he denied.
He returned to Nigeria in 2010 and contested for the presidency in 2011 under the banner of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), which later merged with other parties to form the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2013.
Ribadu lost the election to former President Goodluck Jonathan and later defected to the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2014. He ran for governor of Adamawa State in 2015 but lost again. He rejoined the APC in 2016 and supported Tinubu’s presidential bid in 2023.

Director Information, Abiodun Oladunjoye in a press statement on Thursday said the appointments are with immediate effect.
