The Department of State Service (DSS) on Wednesday raised the alarm over rising security threats in the North Eastern part of the country, lamented the increase in banditr and kidnapping across the North East.
Directors of the Department of State Service (DSS) in the North-East, Mr Hussani Abdullah said this when he visited the Governor of Bauchi State on Wednesday, calling for closer collaboration between security agencies and stakeholders to enhance security network in the region.
Mr Hussani said this constitute major security threats, noting that the influx of bandits in other part of the North to the North East region as seen in resulting into kidnapping among other security threats.
In his response, governor Muhammed gave the assurance that the government would take the necessary steps to reduce the threats.
"Our issue is not just about criminality or crime. There are issues of negligence from national. Inadequacy and limitations, which means expanding needs of the people. Of course lack of collaboration
We have to manage scarce resources. Once you are not doing that, the terrorists will step in and members of the Islamic movement will render some government kind of assistance to lower people into submission, this we cannot afford because our people are very gullible. We have to manage the poverty of the people, lack of education, and so on, governance issue and we will work you at the federel level, we will try to instigate more concern in terms of recruitment to reduce a gap of citizen to security ration.
