One of the rescued Chibok schoolgirls, Hauwa Maltha was immediately after her rescue, was admitted at the Military Hospital, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri where she delivered a baby boy on 29th April, 2023.
SpyeTV News reports that troops of 114 Joint Taskforce Battalion, Operation Hadin Kai had on April 21st, 2023 rescued additional two abducted Chibok School Girls.
The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force Operation of Hadin Kai, Major General Ibrahim Ali said this at a press briefing earlier today in Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri that Troops 114 Taskforce Battalion of the Nigerian Army rescued additional two abducted Chibok School Girls in Lagara during the troop’s operations in the Sambisa Forest on 21st April, 2023.
Gen. Ali revealed that these rescued girls, who are both 26-year-olds, are Esther Markus and Hauwa Maltha with serial numbers 103 and two on the abducted Chibok School Girls’ list. While Esther was rescued along her one-year-old baby, Juweriya, Hauwa was rescued with an eight month and two weeks pregnancy and a three-year-old child, Fatima.
The Theatre Commander stated that while in captivity, the girls were forcefully married off to the insurgents at different times. Esther, a native of Kibaku tribe in Jila town of Chibok, was first married by one Garba, known as Garus, a Boko Haram Terrorist Fighter who died during a clash between JAS and ISWAP. Later, she was married by another insurgent, Abba in Ukuba of Sambisa Forest with whom she had Juweriya before her rescue.
Hauwa, also a native of Kibaku tribe in Jila town of Chibok, was first married in Gulukos to the cameraman of deceased Shekau, Salman, who died in Lake Chad. She was then married off to one Malam Muhammad whom she had two who both died due to illness. Malam Muhammad later died in Ukuba during a clash between JAS and ISWAP.
The Theatre Commander added that during their stay in Maimalari, the girls and their children were given full medical attention including psychological supports at the 7 Division Hospital of the Cantonment.
They have since been handed over to the representatives of the Borno State Government the state’s Ministry of Women Affairs.
While reiterating the theatre’s commitment to combating insecurity in Northeast and restoring peace to the region, Gen. Ali thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff and Chief of Air Staff for their continued support towards the successes of the theatre.
