PCRC Debunks Online Report of Nollywood PCRC Membership, Says "It is Fraud"

The Police Community Relations Committee PCRC has warned online fraudsters and miscreants to desist from defrauding suspected members of the public who are aspiring to join PCRC across the country.

National Chairman, Alhaji Mogaji Olaniyan Ibraheem gave the warning on Wednesday while reacting to the online publication advertising the Nollywood PCRC ID Card.

The publication alleged that membership in Nollywood PCRC can obtain their ID Cards through the PCRC National Commander Alh. Mogaji Ibraheem Aramide Olaniyan in three stages.

Speaking to SpyeTV News, the National Chairman said this publication is unfounded and false because the Secretariat is yet to release PCRC ID Cards, tickets or badges and there is no order from the office of the Inspector General to issue ID Card for members.

"My attention was drawn to an online advert with the caption that says, "Being a member of the Nollywood PCRC, You are automatically a police officer without uniform" and this has caused confusion among members imtending members.

"There is no ID card that comes directly from Office of the IGP and we are not issuing ID card for members now, Nigerians should be wary of these criminals parading themselves as executive members of the PCRC," he noted.

The National Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Olaniyan, therefore called on Nigerians to continue to support officers of the Nigeria Police Force to improve adequate security across the country.

Ibraheem urged General public to disregard this misleading publication as it is devoid of the actual facts of PCRC rules of engagement. The PCRC will not relent in catering for the wellbeing and welfare of its of its members within the ambits of legitimacy.

The PCRC is a community policing-based organisation established by the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force in 1984, to foster a partnership between the police and respective communities in the country, to enhance the efficient and effective policing of communities in Nigeria.

SpyeTV News had reported in January this year that IGP invalidated the existing Police Community Relations Committee identity card from December 2022.

He also directed that anyone found parading himself with the invalidated PCRC ID card should be arrested and prosecuted.

He also ordered the redesign and re-issuance of new PCRC ID cards from the Force Headquarters, Abuja, and through judicious screening of membership across board.

The IGP directed all eligible members of PCRC nationwide to contact the offices of the various Zonal, Command and Formations PCRC Chairmen as well as the Police Public Relations Officers, PPROs, of their Zones, Commands and Formations respectively to obtain new forms for processing the newly approved ID Card.
