Sequel to the commissioning of GIWA 2 project by President Muhammadu Buhari on 2 May 2023, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation ( NNPCL) Limited Communication team have praised the Armed forces of Nigeria for the completion of the GIWA 2 project Phase 2 in Abuja.
The team showered their encomiun on the Chief of Defence Staff when they played host to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation ( NNPCL) Limited Communication team and made an elaborate presentation on the functionality of the Giwa 2 project.
In his remarks, the Chief of Technology, NNPC, Mr Olakunle Osobule commended the AFN for coming up with such a great project. He stated that with the launching of GIWA 2 project by the AFN, it is now imperative for Cameras to be installed all over Abuja and other parts of the country.
The project is being described by stakeholders as an innovation that would help build trust and boost the nation's economy. It is also expected to help decimate the activities of perpetrators of crimes in the country.
While delivering his welcome address at the occasion, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) represented by the Chief of Defence Administration, Rear Admiral MB Negenu stated that the project is designed to provide secure means of communications, real time instant reporting as well as information exchange between the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) and other security agencies to enhance collaboration between defence intelligence and entire security community.
He noted that the project was conceived following the directive by Mr President in 2021 for the Armed Forces and other security agencies in Nigeria to embark on operations to allow farmers return to their farms.
