The ongoing operation by troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) nicknamed Operation HARBIN ZUMA has further diminished the capacity of BH/ISWAP terrorists to carry out their activities in the Lake Chad Basin region.
The offensive posture and doggedness of troops of the MNJTF has continued to yield remarkable results.
Chief Military Public Information Officer MNJTF, Lt Colonel Kamarudeen Adegoke confirmed this to SpyeTv news on Saturday statement that following attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on troops position in the general area of Arege which was effectively repelled, an exploitation was conducted by troops of the Force on 11 May 2023 in the general area.
Lt Col Adegoke noted that several items were recovered including one Dushka gun, Dushka Turrell and a burnt Gun truck while several terrorists were neutralized during the encounter.
He said, similarly, troops of MNJTF conducted a clearance operation in the general area of Ferondiya and successfully subdued BH/ISWAP terrorists attacks with superior fire power.
He stressed that the resilient troops cleared suspected terrorists hideouts and recovered equipment which includes 2 Gun trucks, 2 Anti - Aircrafts guns, one RPG tube, 2 AK 47 rifles, one RPG bomb and 3 Toyota Buffalo Gun truck tyres. Others are quantities 387 rounds of 12.7mm, 440 rounds of 7.62mm x 54mm and 364 rounds of 7.62mm x 50 mm ammunitions.
The FC MNJTF Maj Gen GU Chibuisi while commending the troops for their doggedness during the operation urged them to maintain the momentum
The FC also expressed his appreciation to the Air Components from the Troops Contributing Countries for the vital roles they played in the operations which he said contributed to the numerous successes recorded by ground troops and further solicited for their support whenever the need arises.
