The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has approved the partnership of the Nigeria Police Medical Services with the Daniel Onoja Foundation for the efficient organization of a 3-day Hepatitis B Testing/Screening for members of the Nigeria Police Force to promote good health practices amongst officers and men of the Force.

Force Public Relations Officer CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi disclosed this in a press statement on Wednesday that this was in line with IGPs administration’s policy on health and wellness amongst officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force,

CSP Adejobi said, the exercise which will take place from Wednesday 19th to Friday 21st April 2023 at three designated centres viz the Force Headquarters Sick Bay, Muhammadu Buhari Police Hospital, Area 11, Garki, and the Police Hospital, Dei-Dei, all in Abuja, is targeted at creating awareness on the Hepatitis B virus (HBV) which infects more than 300 million people worldwide and is a common cause of liver disease and liver cancer.

The Inspector General of Police has therefore charged Police Officers and Men to take advantage of this exercise, which will subsequently cascade down to Zonal and State Commands, to get first-hand knowledge and awareness of the virus.

He equally charged them to prioritize their health as it is vital for robust policing services to members of the public.
