…. Declares First Commanding Officers/Transformational leadership workshop 2023 Open
The Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya has pledged the support of the Army Headquarters in providing resources and guidance to carryout assigned roles.
Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Lt Col Musa Yahaya in a press statement on Tuesday noted that the COAS made this pledge when declaring open the maiden edition of Commanding Officers/Transformational leadership workshop 2023 at the Headquarters 1 Division Nigerian Army on 17 April 2023.
In his remarks, the COAS who was ably represented by the Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy, Major General IM Yusuf, said that the workshop which focuses on leadership and effective followership at tactical level is to enlighten junior and middle cadre personnel of the Nigerian Army.
He reprised that the workshop is in line with the COAS vision which is “ A Professional Nigerian Army ready to accomplish assigned mission within a joint environment in Defence of Nigeria”.
He further stated that the transformational leadership workshop is critical, considering the challenges bedeviling our dear nation, adding that, these challenges requires a unique leadership style which is embedded in the key tenets of his vision and command philosophy of professionalism, readiness, sound administration and cooperation.
In his goodwill message, the Executive Governor Kaduna State Mallam El-Rufai who was ably represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan stated that Kaduna state will continue to partner and collaborate with the military by mobilizing its citizens to always provide information required for effective counter insurgency/counter terrorist operations as the state recognizes and appreciates the effort of the military in keeping the State safe.
He noted that the Commanding Officers'/Transformational Leadership Workshop are routine training packages in the Nigerian Army.
Earlier in his opening remarks,the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Operation Whirl Punch, Major General OT Akinjobi pointed out that the Workshop is designed to improve the role of Commanding Officers in enhancing the combat readiness of troops in their units and to confront contemporary security challenges in the Country.
Major General Akinjobi also stressed that the Transformational Leadership Workshop is a one day event targeted at improving the leadership values and effectiveness of junior commanders and personnel of the Nigerian Army.
He further extended his profound gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for providing the needed resources to conduct the workshop in the face of competing demands of the Nigerian Army.
Present at the workshop were the Representative of the COAS, Representative of the Chief of Training, Chief of Transformation and Innovation, Representative of the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Commandant MLAPKIC, Commander Infantry Corps and other members of the sister agencies.
Highpoint of the event was lectures from Resource persons, presentation of souvenirs, interactive session and group photographs.
