Military Pledges Conducive and Secure Environment for Academic Activities in Borno

The Theatre Commander (TC) Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Ibrahim Ali, has assured the academic community in Borno State, of his resolve to foster a conducive and secure environment for academic activities to thrive.

Major General Ali made the pledge when he paid a courtesy visit to University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) and Borno State University (BOSU) on Wednesday 1st March 2023.

On arrival at UNIMAID and BOSU, the TC was received by the Vice Chancellors of both institutions, Professor Aliyu Shugaba and Professor Umar Kyari Sandabe, who warmly welcomed him and members of his entourage.

During the visits, both Vice Chancellors commended the military for their commitment and support in providing adequate security within the school environs.

They disclosed that despite the security situation of the state, and apart from academic strike, the Universities had never for once shut down due to security threat.

While assuring the Theatre Commander of their continuous support and collaboration, they called for enhanced synergy and cooperation.

In his remarks, the TC commended the Institutions for the support and cooperation accorded to his predecessor and equally requested for same during his tenure.

Furthermore, General Ali assured of his resolve to sustain the existing mutual relationship between the military and the university community, and also create a conducive environment for academic activities to thrive
