. ..AFCSC COMMENCES EXERCISE HASKE BIYU 2023
Armed Forces Command and Staff College has commenced Exercise HASKE BIYU 2023 for Senior Course 45, at the Ihejirika Auditorium in Jaji Military Cantonment today 20 March 2023.
Declaring the Exercise open, the commandant. Air Vice Marshal EA Wonah stated the aim of the Exercise is to afford stakeholders the necessary information on which all agencies involved could make use of available resources jointly to deal with a given situation.
Therefore, the planning of the exercise takes into cognizance the series of security challenges in many parts of the country and its programmed to focus on security challenges in one of the six Geo-Political zones of the Country.
AVM Wonah revealed that, this year's edition will focus on the South West Geo-Political zone where the acts of banditry, kidnappings and agitations were identified as emerging security challenges.
He added that, these challenges targeted at the vulnerable members of the society have undermined national security and the economic wellbeing of the citizens.
Therefore, It is expected that the Exercise will expose the participants to the peculiarities and challenges associated with the conduct of operations in a low intensity conflict and counter insurgency environment.
This he said, will further, highlight the role of every security agency concerned with these tasks and in the process acquaint participants with their capabilities and limitations.
In his address, the Special Guest of Honour, Corps Marshal, Federal ⁶Road Safety Corps ( FRSC) DAUDA Ali Biu stated that, the Exercise is apt and timely as it provides a platform for the cross fertilization of ideas which will enhance cooperation and collaboration between stakeholders for the development of sustainable conflict resolution and management mechanisms.
He urged the participants to participate fully, so that their collective knowledge gained will become instrumental in discharging their duties.
Exercise HASKE BIYU is a three weeks joint and multi - Agency training on Internal Security and Low Intensity Conflict which involves paper presentations and demonstrations on internal security operations among other training activities.
