Fire Management: Army Holds Sensitization Seminar For Personnel and Magajiyas in Kaduna

The Nigerian army 1 Division on Thursday 23  March 2023 organised a one day sensitization seminar on Fire Prevention and Management for personnel and Magajiya's in the Division's Area of Responsibility at the Division's Headquarters in Kaduna. 

The seminar was aimed at creating awareness  and sensitizing personnel and their families on how to curtail the menace of fire outbreaks and take extreme precautionary measures.

In his remarks, the  Special Guest of Honour, General Officer Commanding (GOC) I Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Operation WHIRL PUNCH Maj Gen TA Lagbaja represented by the Commander 51 Signals Brigade, Brig Gen UG Ugeleka, stated that the importance of the seminar cannot be overemphasized considering the increase occurrence of fire incidents and the attendant monumental destructions across the globe. 

He noted that the Nigerian Army is not left out of these incidences which has damaged  properties and endanger the lives of personnel and their family members in the barracks and cantonments. 

He then thanked the representative of the Special Guest of Honour for his esteemed presence and appreciated the Department of Army Logistics for providing the required logistics for the seminar and urged participants to be attentive so as to benefit from the series of lectures packaged for the seminar. 

The Chief of Logistics(Army) and Director Supply and Transport Services, Brig Gen BO Ogunbumi while giving his remarks emphasized on importance of fire prevention and management noting that the sensitisation was part of the Chief Of Army Staff welfare package for officers and men of the Nigerian Army to curtail the incessant fire outbreaks in the barracks.

Series of lectures were delivered by the Director Fire and Safety Headquarters Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport, Brig Gen MU Ikobah and a resource person from the Federal Fire Service Kaduna State Command on classes of fire, fire prevention measures, efficient fire prevention skills, fire triangle, fire prevention on Nigerian Army assets, keeping fire fighting equipment free from obstruction, fire prevention in vehicles among others.
