'Why We are Compensating Wounded in Action Troops, Next Of Kin of Deceased Soldiers and CJTF' - General Khalifah Ibrahim

 

Troops of the MNJTF since its re-operationalized in 2015 have conducted 6 major operations, that is, Operation GAMA AIKI, Operation RAWAN KADA, Operation AMNI FAKAT and Operation YANCIN TAKFI I & II. The Force recently conducted Operation SHARAN FAGE and Operation LAKE SANITY. 

These operations were successful with significant effects on the terrorist’s operational capacity which led to the neutralization of hundreds of terrorists, destruction of their hideouts and enclaves, and recovering of equipment, rescue of hostages and other abductees but some troops paid the supreme price while some injured.

Wounded in action troops and next of kin of deceased troops of Sector 3 MNJTF and Civilian Joint Task Force during operations SHARAN FAGE and LAKE SANITY were recently compensated for their relentless efforts and gallantry in the fight against the BHTs in the LCB region. 

Presenting the token, the Force Commander MNJTF Maj Gen Abdul Khalifah Ibrahim said that the compensation was not aimed to pay for the lives lost but rather a show of gratitude and appreciation

He stressed that, Operation LAKE SANITY, which was the most recent MNJTF Operation, saw the MNJTF troops penetrate deep inside the Lake Chad Islands and settlements known locally as “Tumbuns”.

General Ibrahim paid tributes to the deceased troops and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members,  encourages their families to be consoled as the troops died in honour while contributing to the restoration of peace in the region.

In a recent press statement signed by Deputy Chief Military Public Information Officer N’Djamena, Captain Benn Raphael and made available to SpyeTV News said the ceremony was held at the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Captain Raphael said the Force Commander also visited 145 Battalion Headquarters Damasak where he was received by the Commander 5 Brigade, Brig Gen OG Olorunyomi. 

He said, a training demonstration was carried out by the troops of 145 Battalion for the Fotce Commander. In his remarks, the FC MNJTF commended the leadership and men of the Battalion for the achievements recorded so far. 

He added that terrorist capacity has been significantly degraded while promising more support to the Battalion.
