Two former members of the disbanded Special Anti-robbery Squad SARS have been sentenced to death by hanging by a State High Court in Port Harcourt, for killing two young men, Michael Igwe and Michael Akor accused of stealing recharge cards in 2019 in Oyigbo LGA of Rivers State.
The trial Judge, Justice M O Opara in her judgment on Thursday found the officers guilty of conspiracy to murder and sentenced the duo to death.
Five officers of the SARS team were standing trial for the crime. While two of them died in custody, the other one was acquitted.
