Updated: Army Holds First Quarter 2023 Civil-Military Media Chat in Borno State

 

The Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai is currently hosting the Department of Civil Military Affairs' media chat for first quarter of 2023 at Theatre Command Officers Mess, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.

The Army Headquarters Department of Civil-Military Relations Affairs (AHQ DCMA) on Thursday, February 9, held its First Quarter 2023 CIMIC Media Chat with the theme "Media as a Critical Tool in Addressing Insecurity in Nigeria." at Maimalari military cantonment, Maiduguri, Borno State.

A former Director, Army Public Relations Officer, Brigadier General SK Usman moderated the interactive session with discussants like Mrs. Ayo Mario-Ese, co-anchor of "The Morning Show" on Arise News Channel; Mrs. Morayo Afolabi-Brown, who runs the daily programme "Your View" on TVC; Dr. Abubakar Alhassan, a senior lecturer at the Department of Mass Communication, Bayero University Kano; and Major General CG Musa, the immediate past Theatre Commander of Operation HADIN KAI and now Commander of the Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army. 

Mr. Seun Okinbaloye of Channels TV could not join us virtually because of some technical issues at the other end. Still, the presentation got a lot of people excited and interested, and we had a very lively interactive session where people talked about the paper, asked questions, and made a lot of great contributions.

A former Chief of Civil-Military Affairs (Army) and Chief of Training and Operations (Army), Major General NE Angbazo (rtd), were the guest speaker. 

He spoke on "The Role of the Media in Enhancing Civil-Military Cooperation in a Joint Operations Environment."

Shortly before the lecture by Major General Nuhu Angbazo (rtd), there were highlights of the activities of AHQ DCMA, which include the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention projects, humanitarian activities, addressing allegations of human rights violations, and other measures to enhance civil-military relations; assistance to various communities and organisations by Major GE Ameh; a one-on-one media chat with the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs (CCMA), Major General MG Kangye; and the presentation of souvenirs to some of the guests.

The event, which was declared open by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, represented by Major General CG Musa, Commander Infantry Corps, also attracted senior military officers, such as the Force Commander, Multinational Joint Task Force, Major General AK Ibrahim, Theatre Commander, Operation HADIN KAI, Major General IS Ali, Deputy Theatre Commander, Major General KA Isoni, General Officer Commander of 7 Division, and Major General W Shaibu, the Naval Component Commander of Operation HADIN KAI.

Others were the Commander of 7 Division Garrison, Brigadier General J Ibrahim, representatives from the Air Component, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), journalists from local and international media organizations, and officers from the Multinational Joint Task Force, Headquarters Theatre Command, and 7 Division, Operation HADIN KAI, among others.

Brigadier General A Ashinze, the Director of Psychological Operations at the DCMA, presented the vote of thanks after it was declared closed by the representative of the Chief of Army Staff.
