Fresh facts have emerged on how Governors and most especially, the ones in Southwest diverted and squandered intervention fund meant for growing of small scale enterprises owned by people at the grassroots.
Senator Nicolas Tofowomo, who represents Ondo Central Senatorial District made this revelation in a viral video spreading like wild fire.
In his memory lane, the Senator disclosed that around May of 2022, Federal Government of Nigeria came up with a programme tagged, “NGCARE” with intervention fund of #3.2M each for about 5000 people per state, who are coordinating small scale enterprises at the grassroots.
Tofowomo stressed that the programme was taken to each state in Southwest of Nigeria where State Coordinators were appointed to supervise the exercise in each state.
He said, that the necessary registrations were done for the candidates, while capturing and other prerequisites to guarantee their access to grants were done successfully.
The Senator, lamented that he was surprised to have learnt that some states like Ondo, Oyo and others have drastically reduced the numbers of beneficiaries and amount that were earmarked for the programme.
Not only but also added that, the states have changed to their programme, while Ondo State tagged it “Ondo Care”, Oyo State named it” Oyo State Care” and others respectively.
Tofowomo, however alleged Ondo State for reducing huge amount of #3.2M per person to #250,000 and Oyo State to #300,000 person with consideration of 100 beneficiaries out of officially approved minimum of 5000.
Tofowomo, said the alleged financial atrocities applied to other states but he could only speak of Ondo and Oyo States which findings conducted, revealed that the two states fell victim of the dastardly acts.
Tofowomo called on all relevant financial crime agencies to swing into action and find out what actually transpired on why money meant for the masses was diverted
