Nigerian Army (NA) over place welfare of its personnel a top priority and related to the spirit of armed forces Remembrance celebration day, especially concerning the welfare of falling heroes, the department of Army Administration will be conducting a verification and screening exercise for prospective beneficiaries of Nigerian Army scholarship in 2022/2023 academic session spanning Primary, secondary and tertiary education.
This was disclosed by Major General Jimmy Akpor, former Director Defence Information, who was newly appointed as Director of Personnel Services, Army Headquarters where he will be assisting the Chief of Administration (Army) in dealing with issues concerning discipline, welfare, medical, Regimentations among others.
General Akpor said, the general welfare of the families of fallen heros among other responsibilities will therefore be part of his duties when he resume at the Army Headquarters.
He noted that, Nigerian Army has over time introduced and still introducing various welfare packages in order to meet its moral component strategy which would produce a well-focused and morale motivated troop to win all battles as well as render aids to civil authority in quelling all forms of insecurity.
The former director Defence Information, Major General Jim Akpor, who made this known, said the scheme is designed to give the children of the deceased the requisite necessary education
Major General Jimmy Akpor on Tuesday while handing over to the new acting Director Defence Information Brigadier General Tukur Ismaila Gusau, at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja, noted that the verification which has started today 17th January 2023 will end 17 February 2023.
