The Defence Headquarter on Thursday has said that the Nigerian military is one of the most professional forces in the West Africa region across Africa and will never victimize any populace, any law abiding citizens, rather will apprehend those who are wanting for any criminal activities and taking them to appropriate authority for appropriate action.
The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Musa Danmadami, disclosed this while reacting to alleged planting of pegs by the Nigerian army in the backyard of Tungan Kwaso, Anagada and Tungan Maje communities in the FCT.
At the bi-weekly media briefing on troops activities and operational success being recorded between 22 December 2022 and 12 January 2023, Maj.-Gen. Danmadami said Nigerian military with a force of more than 223,000 active personnel, and one of the largest uniformed combat services in Africa will never victimize any law abiding civilians.
"Nigerian soldiers were highly respected by their counterparts and civilians alike, across Africa because of their strength, discipline and high level of professionalism", he added.
In addition, the Director Defence Information, Maj Gen. Jimmy Akpor admonished village chiefs of Tungan Kwaso, Anagada and Tungan Maje communities to approach the Human Right desk of the Nigerian Army or National Human Right Commission to register their complaints rather than approaching media houses to register their grievances.
Reports say the spokesman of the natives in the communities, Comrade Adamu Ishaku alongside the FCT commissioner for Public Complaints Commission, Mr Ezikiel Dalhatu Musa, alleged that some village chiefs said army came to some of the communities last Saturday and allegedly planted the pegs at the backyard of some houses in the area without consulting any of the village chiefs or district heads.
