The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal has said that, apart from support for security operations, the state government has reviewed upward the monthly logistic support to the agencies by 150% and provided logistics aid to all security agencies in the state
Governor Tambuwal disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the 2022 Annual Chief of Army Staff Conference in Sokoto.
According to the governor who also double as the Chairman of the Nigeria Givernors' Forum (NGF), Governor Tambuwal said his government therefore endeavour to support short along term operations with logistics and allowances for personnel.
"I also want to assure you of our government unwavering support to the attainment of our objective, as we forge a partnership for the protection of the lives and property of our students and importantly, government, in collaboration with security agencies, have identified inadequacies of logistics and manpower as major constraints to security operations in the state," he noted.
He added that the government is also strengthening the capacity of his own Sokoto Marshals, a local security outfit and vigilante groups as a support to work with the security agencies in the state.
He appreciated the collective contribution all all of the service chiefs, Inspector General, police and all heads of security agencies and through them their personnel toward improvement of giant security situation in the North West and in particular in Sokoto State.
Speaking on the COAS Annual Conference, Governor Tambuwal said the conference presents another golden opportunity to assess the activities of Nigerian army particularly for the year under review.
"It is therefore my pervent hope and prayer that the outcome of the conference will positively impact on the numerous operations and other activities of Nigerian army across the country.
"Let me at this juncture on behalf of the good people of Sokoto state Express precision for the tireless efforts of Nigerian army and other services of the armed forces as well as other security agencies towards re establishment of peace in Sokoto State.
"Let me at this juncture also especially commend the COAS LT Gen Faruk Yahaya our own son, for his efforts at maintaining the high standards for the Nigerian army, is known for since his assumption of commend.
"And also on behalf of the good people of Sokoto state express appreciation for the COAS for choosing Sokoto State at the venue of this all important event", he said.
The annual conference was declared opened by president Muhammadu Buhari.
