The UNISFA Acting Head of Mission and Force Commander, Major General Benjamin Olufemi Sawyerr has decorated Maj Bekinbo Banimibo Brown with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel
The decoration ceremony took place on Monday at the UNISFA headquarters in Abyei.
The United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei is a United Nations peacekeeping force in Abyei, which is contested between the Republic of Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan
Major BB Brown, a holder of Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering was commissioned into the Nigerian Army in 2003 as a member of Short Service Combatant Course 33 and posted into the elite Nigerian Army Corps of Engineers.
He attended the Engineering Project Management Course at Nairobi, Kenya and attended both Junior and Senior Staff Courses at the prestigious Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji-Kaduna where he emerged as the best graduating student in the Department of Land Warfare on both occasions.
Bekinbo also holds a Masters degree in International Affairs and Defence Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy.
He is currently the Senior Staff Officer, U8 (Force Engineering) - UNISFA. The UNISFA UNPOL Commissioner Violet Lusala assisted the Force Commander to decorate the officer with the new rank.
