The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has charged the graduands of Army War College Nigeria Course 6/2022 never to take their AWCN Graduation achievements lightly as their graduation marked the end of tactical education phase of their career and the transformation into operational and strategic learning as well as leadership roles which requires a understanding of the intricacies of the environment.
General Yahaya gave this advise on Wednesday 23rd November 2022 at the Graduation Dinner and Award Night Ceremony of the Army War College Nigeria Course 6/2022 which took place at the Nigerian Army Command Officers Mess, Asokoro, Abuja.
The Army Chief who was ably represented by Chief Of Training (Army), Major General Abdulsalam Ibrahim noted that the mission of the College is apt and very clear which is to produce well trained, educated and inspired operational leaders for the Nigerian Army.
He said the mission is being achieved through some learning objectives which are focus on National Security, Military strategy, Theatre strategy, and operational art.
"You are obviously benefactors of this mission and a lot is expected of you when you return to the field,t therefore don't take this achievement lightly", he said.
General Yahaya commended and congratulated the Commandant Army War College Nigeria Major General Bamidele Alabi for successfully completing the Army War Course package for Course 6.
He Congratulates the graduands for having withstood the rigorous of 8 months study, saying they are definitely on a journey that is very important to their career and the Nation at large.
In his remarks, the Commandant Army War College Nigeria Major General Bamidele Alabi stressed that the graduation dinner and award night is a tradition the College has kept since 2017 when it's ran its first course and is one in the series of activities lined up to crown the training activities for graduating participants of Course 6/2022.
He said the event provides an avenue for the College community and guests to interact and celebrate with participants in a relaxed atmosphere after rigorous academic session.
"The occasion provides a unique opportunity for the College to honour some of its award winning participants and recognised deserving staff of the College and there is no doubt that your standing dedication and sacrifice as enable us to set the very high standard for which the AWCN has become known for today, both locally snd internationally," he added.
The Commandant said, the College has provided particivaluable tools to critically think through contemporary challenges and develop implementable practical options. "We expect that you knowledgably take up your positions ansnplay critical roles in the evolution of the 21st Century military thinking that is required to tackle the current Challenges.
General Alabi thanked the Army Chief for consistently funding the event for every course. He acknowledged immense support of the spouses of all graduating participants.
He encouraged graduands to proactively stand on solid foundation provided at the College and make professional mark as they found themselves returning to one operational theaters and to understand that the system huge investment that has gone into trading and the value that their predecessors have added to the respective organisation.
Highlight of the graduation dinner and award ceremony included the presentation of the Best College Paper Award, Overall Best Inter-Agency Participant Award and the Overall Merit Awards.
