2. BREAKING: N1.2BILLION RELEASED TO PAY OUTSTANDING PENSION PAYMENT.
Crimechannel - Adegboyega Oyetola the governor of Osun State, has issued a sum of N350,000,000 for the payment of retirement benefits for retirees on Contributory Pensions Scheme in the state civil service. The amount was said to be in addition to N752,000,000, monthly pension to be paid to retirees under the old Pensions Scheme for the month of September. He also provided an additional sum of N100,000,000 to cover a portion of the N1,202,000,000 in retirees gratuites under the Old Pensions Scheme. This was contained in a statement signed by the state Head of Service, Dr. Festus Oyebade, obtained in Osogbo on Friday, which also said the list of beneficiaries had been placed on the notice boards of the Civil Service Bureau Office of the Head of Service, and the Ministry of Information and Civic Engagement.

Christopher Musa has decorated 83 officers and men of the Nigerian Army and other security personnel with medals in the Northeast. According to him, the awardees are from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF and Navy, Police, Department of State Service (DSS), Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), the Correctional Service, Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Civil Defense and the Civilian JTF.

6. BORNO HOLDS FIRST INDEPENDENCE PARADE IN 12 YEARS OF INSURGENCY.

Babagana Zulum presided over the ceremony held at the Ramat Square in Maiduguri. He said that the event was made possible by the return of relative peace in the state. Zulum, who was represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Usman Kadafur, lauded the military and other security agencies for the uncommon successes recorded in various operations against the insurgents.
7. ANOTHER CHIBOK GIRL RESCUED AFTER GIVING BIRTH TO TWINS IN BOKO HARAM CAMP.
PRNigeria - Nigerian troops have rescued another Chibok girl who recently gave birth to a set of twins. The troops with the supports of Civilian volunteers known as CJTF had stormed the camp of Boko Haram terrorists in Bula Dawo axis in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State on a counterinsurgency operation. During the encounter, scores of bandits were eliminated while others escaped with injuries. PRNigeria gathered that the Chibok girl who identified herself as Yana Pogu had other children for member of Boko Haram before the twins. During the operation, the troops also rescued more women and children.

10. OVER 2,295 TEACHERS KILLED IN NORTH-EAST SCHOOLS’ ATTACKS, SAYS TRCN.
Thisday - The Registrar/Chief Executive of Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Professor Josiah Ajiboye, has disclosed that attacks on schools by insurgents claimed the lives of more than 2,295 teachers in the North-east between 2009 and 2022. Ajiboye, who said this at the weekend in Abuja, also revealed that over 19,000 others were displaced, with over 910 schools destroyed due to the conflict. He, therefore, called for the full implementation of the Safe Schools Declarations guidelines endorsed by Nigeria in 2015 and ratified by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.
11. ANSARU TERRORISTS KILL BANDITS IN KADUNA VILLAGE.
AREWA AGENDA – The fundamentalist militant organisation of Ansaru on Thursday killed scores of bandits in Damari, a village in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The Ansaru terrorists were said to have, on Wednesday, made a surprise return to Damari, which was under their occupation before they left for an unknown destination in July. During the organisation’s absence, the bandits reportedly had a field day repeatedly invading the village and surrounding communities and killing and abducting the residents. Tribune Online gathered that the bandit attacks forced hundreds of the hapless residents to flee to other towns and villages.
12. NIGERIA@62: GROUP LAUDS MILITARY FOR SACRIFICE, NATIONAL UNITY.
NAN - The Unity Advocacy Group (UAG) a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO), has lauded the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their sacrifices to keep the country united for the past 62 years. The Group gave the commendation in thier Independence Anniversary message issued by the Convener, Mr Ifeanyi Aigbedion, on Saturday in Abuja. Aigbedion said the sacrifices made by officers and men of the armed forces had been a major factor that had bound the nation together. He said the current security challenges in the country had further showed the level of sacrifice that the military had continued to make to strengthen Nigeria’s national unity.
13. INSECURITY THREATENS CONDUCT OF 2023 ELECTIONS IN 686 COMMUNITIES – INEC,,, North accounts for over 90% of the affected communities.
Thisday - The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) may be under constraint to conduct 2023 elections in over 686 communities under the atrocious activities of armed non-state actors across the federation, THISDAY’s findings have revealed. The findings also revealed that the affected communities and wards cut across 90 local government areas (LGAs) and 18 states of the federation. President Muhammadu Buhari had directed security agencies to ensure stability before December 31.
14. ARMY: GUNMEN HIDE UNDER BIAFRA AGITATION TO KILL IN SOUTH-EAST.
Thisday - The Nigerian Army has disclosed that the gunmen terrorising the residents of the South-east geopolitical zone hide under the cloak of Biafran agitation to commit crimes in the region. The new General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, Major General Umar Musa, stated this at the weekend when he visited Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State at the Government House, Awka. This was contained in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Christian Aburime.
15. SECURITY OPERATIVES KILL SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER IN OYO.
SpyeTV - Officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have shot a suspected kidnapper in Oyo State, a spokesman said on Thursday. The shooting incident occurred around 10:30am at Easy Gate Farm along Abanla Ogunmakin road in Ibadan According to a release signed by the public relations officer of the command, Oyindamola Okuneye, the State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Mr. Adaralewa Michael, noted that eight suspected kidnappers gained entry to the farm to kidnap the owner who is a foreigner. However, they were repelled “by the gallant officers of the Corps in a gun battle in which one of them was shot dead and others escaped with various degree of bullet wounds,” the statement said.

In a press statement signed by Chief of Military Public Information Office, Lt Colonel Kamarudeen Adegoke disclosed that, the Force Commander paid tribute to the contribution of the CJTF in the counter – insurgency operations which he said would never be forgotten.

19. FOUR SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS CAUGHT BY ANGRY MOB; POLICE TO THE RESCUE.
Four middle-aged persons, including three women, have been arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command over an alleged attempt to abduct a 10-year-old girl. The command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the Divisional Police officer in charge of Ketu in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos, got a report about the attempted abduction on Wednesday at about 3.00 p.m.
