2. NIGERIAN TROOPS PENETRATE CHIKUN-BIRNIN-GWARI AXIS, RESCUE KIDNAPPED VICTIMS.
PRNigeria - Troops of Operation Forest Sanity carried out a raid on a bandits’ hideout, in furtherance of clearance operations in the Kuriga-Manini-Udawa general areas, along the Chikun-Birnin Gwari boundary. Acting on credible intelligence, the troops carried out search-and-rescue operations at the hideout located around Ungwan Malam Ali. The troops made contact with the bandits, who withdrew with gunshot wounds under the superior firepower of the advancing forces. The troops recovered one AK47 rifle, eighteen rounds of ammunition, and eleven pump action cartridges.

The Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has condemned the Federal government for allegedly refusing to approve the use of automatic weapons by states’ security agencies in the face of growing security threats. According to Akeredolu, the assertion made by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, about the use of automatic weapons by state security outfits betrayed the current realities in the entire country in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde.
4. NDLEA GOT OVER N580MILLION TO PROCURE FOUR ARMOURED VEHICLES
Thenewshunter - The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved N580.5 million for the procurement of four armoured vehicles to fight dangerous and illicit drugs by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, made this known to State House correspondents at the end of the council’s meeting which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on Wednesday. The minister said the decision to procure the armoured vehicles was taken to encourage and safeguard the lives of NDLEA personnel who have been working very hard with impressive results being recorded.
5. BUHARI REITERATES NIGERIA’S COMMITMENT TO NUCLEAR NON-PROLIFERATION TREATY.
PRNigeria - President Muhammadu Buhari has said that Nigeria remains committed to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and will continue to promote it, warning that expending further resources on nuclear weapons stockpiling and maintenance makes no sense at all. President Buhari made this position known while addressing delegates at a High-Level Plenary Meeting to Commemorate and Promote the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons in New York.
6. VIGILANTES KILL 31 BANDITS IN ZAMFARA VILLAGE.
AREWA AGENDA – Thirty-one bandits were killed by vigilante groups in Kanoma town of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Tuesday. Recall that bandits had last Sunday attacked the town where they killed three persons and abducted eight nursing mothers. The PUNCH Newspaper reported an indigene of the town, Abubakar Ibrahim said that the bandits who attacked the town last Sunday had planned to return for another attack. Ibrahim said they were, however, confronted by the vigilante group of Kanoma town and those from surrounding villages who got the information that the bandits were planning to attack the town again.

8. POLICE IN BORNO CONFIRM ESCAPE OF 6 SECURITY PERSONNEL ABDUCTED BY ISWAP.
Neptuneprime - The Police Command in Borno confirmed the escape of the six security personnel abducted by the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Benishek on Monday. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Abdu Umar, who disclosed this during a conference with Divisional Police Officers on Wednesday in Maiduguri said: “The terrorists abducted the six security operatives including one policeman, three Combined Joint Task Forces (CJTF) and three hunters. “They also carted away one Hilux patrol vehicle and we also lost one AK 47 rifle. “But with support from the Air Task Force, the security men were able to escape after the insurgents scampered into the bush on sighting the Super Tucanos,” he added.

The Secretary to State Government (SSG), Murtari Lawal, disclosed this at the passing out ceremony of 600 vigilantes recently. Lawal who said the state government would not relent in its effort to end banditry and other related crimes and criminality in the state, described the training of the vigilante as the best of its kind, equipping them with the skill of weapons handling and self-defence tactics to fight the menace.

12. BANK LOSSES MILLIONS OF NAIRA AS 3 POLICEMEN, OTHERS BURNT TO DEATH IN KEBBI BULLION VAN ACCIDENT.
Neptuneprime - An unspecified amount worth millions of Naira were partially burnt as six people including three policemen attached to the bullion van of a commercial bank, have been burnt to ashes in a road accident along Argungu in Kebbi State. Confirming this, Kebbi State Police Command spokesman, SP Nafiu Abubakar, in a statement in Birnin Kebbi, said the accident occurred on Tuesday, September 27 along Argungu/Birnin Kebbi Road after a Carina E car loaded with petrol chased by Customs officials collided with the bullion van.

16. INSECURITY: ANAMBRA GOVT SUSPENDS TRICYCLE, SHUTTLE BUS UNIONS.
Leadership - The Anambra Government has announced the suspension of tricycle and shuttle bus unions as part of the measures to arrest the rising security breaches in the state. The suspension is contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Chief Paul Nwosu, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Thursday. Nwosu stated that the government’s action followed security reports that indicted most operators of the affected unions for being behind the breakdown of law and order in the state.

18. 20 PEOPLE BURNT ALIVE AS PETROL TANKER GOES UP IN FLAMES.
Crimechannel - No fewer than 20 persons died on Wednesday in a fire accident that occured in Ankpa, the headquarters of Ankpa Local Government in Kogi State. According to reports, the 20 people were burnt to death when a tanker filled with petrol lost control due to brake failure and fell on the bridge of Maboro River in the Ankpa town. An eyewitness told Daily Trust that: “It’s the second major disaster in Ankpa within this month. This one is the most terrible and horrible. Over 20 persons were burnt to death, some beyond recognition.”
19. TWO PERSONS HACKED TO DEATH, MANY OTHERS INJURED AS TRANSPORT WORKERS CLASH.
Crimechannel - Two persons were feared killed and many injured in a fracas between members of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in Iyana-Iba along Lagos-Badagry Expressway. Scrollreport - Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has said that the 2023 national census data; will overcome the challenges of insecurity to lives and property in the country. Zulum made the declaration, yesterday (Thursday), in Maiduguri at the National Population Commission (NPC) Stakeholders’ summit at the Musa Usman secretariat complex. He said that the security challenges have been bedeviling the six geopolitical zones with the loss of many lives and property.
