A resisent, Saidu Umar, told HumAngle; “relatives of the released victims used their motorcycles and moved into the deep forest areas located at the western parts of Zugu and brought back their loved ones.”
Amadu Maigero, one of the motorcyclist added: “we entered the bush and carried our people after paying N5 million as part of our agreement with the terror group.”
“I am now myself after seeing my children reunited with their families. Although they are looking too depressed, extremely dehydrated and pensive,” said Alhaji Junaidu, a political party chieftain whose two sons were among those released.
Another resident who pleaded anonymity told Newsmen that “we made financial commitment for our loved ones to be safely released. There was no involvement of any government official or security operatives throughout the negotiation process.”
