Operatives of the Zamfara State Police Command have arrested one Isiyaku Babangida, a wanted terrorist, during the raid of a terror camp in Gima Village of Zamfara State in Northwest Nigeria on Friday, Sept. 9.
Two AK47 rifles, two locally made guns, and 236 7.62mm rounds of live ammunition were recovered at the scene.
In what it described as an “anti banditry patrol,” the police first foiled an attack on some communities in Anka and Bukkuyum Local Government Areas (LGAs) led by a notorious terror leader, Alhaji Bello, at about 5:30 after being alerted by residents.
According to Mohammed Shehu, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Zamfara Command said, “following the receipt of the complaints [by residents], the Police operatives swung into action and moved to the nearby bandit’s enclaves that led to a serious gun battle between the bandits and the Police operatives.”
