The Chairman, Bwari Area Council Hon. Dr John Gabaya has commended the Nigerian Army for efficiently dealing with emerging security threats facing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the country at large.
Hon Gabaya gave this commendation while speaking with journalists in Abuja during a free medical outreach and distribution of palliatives to the less privileged in Bwari Local Council Area of the Federal Capital Territory as well as Internally Displaced Persons Living in his community which was conducted by Army Guards Brigade and Army Headquarters Garrison on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff.
The Chairman who was a special Guest of at tge event expressed appreciation to the Commander Army Headquarters Garrison for choosing Bwari Area Council to Celebrate the Army Day Celebration with the community which has added another value to the local council.
He assured the Nigerian Army of citizens readiness to reciprocate this good gesture by supporting and corporating with the security forces in the area for smooth operation.
"That is, we are showing you that in terms of security in Bwari Area Council, we are there to give our maximum support in whatever you needed us to do. Despite the security challenges in Nigeria, the Army of our Nation today, has never relent. Indeed, we want to say thank you. May God Almighty who see us in secret reward all of you. Finally, for those of you that are beneficial of the palliative that is given today and also the medical outreach that has been given to our people in Bwari," he said.
He added that the country must continue to appreciate and acknowledge the patriotic contributions and sacrifices of the officers and soldiers in the fight against Boko Haram, insurgency, kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery, terrorism and other forms of criminality across the country.
The Traditional Ruler, His Royal Highness, the Sarkin (Emir) of Bwari, Alhaji Musa Ijokoro (II) thanked the Nigerian Army Guards Brigade and Army Headquarters Garrison for putting this humanitarian project together to celebrate the 159th Army Day Celebration with people of Bwari.
The monarch said the kind gesture to Bwati host community especially the less privilege and vulnerable in the society is highly commendable.
The IDPs Chairman Bwari Local Council Area, Ahmad Umaru who spoke in his native tongue (vanacular) described the kind gesture by the Nigerian Army personnel as a way of relief to the IDPs living in Bwari Community that they are still remembered as refugees from Borno, and Yobe State.
Umaru thanked the organisers of the free medical outreach and distribution of palliatives and expressed appreciation to Traditional Ruler and community members for accommodating them after insurgency sacked them from tgrur ancestral homes.
Another speaker, Chief Representative of Kanuri indigenes, Mr Mustapha Baba Dikwa praised the Nigerian Army Guards Brigade for active service in Bwari Community and FCT and commended thm for coming to their rescue, stating that the palliative came to his people at the right time.
“I did not expect such gestures from the Nigerian Army for coming to share food items to my people. I was shocked when they called me to come and collect palliative for my people.
A resident who had lived in Bwari Local Council Area since 2009, Dr Saidu Samaila who is also spokesperson for Borno - Yobe Citizens in Bwari appreciate the gesture and commended the Nigerian Army for the positive relationship, the Civil- military relations for good achievement.
Dignitries at the event were the representatives of Commanders Commanders Nigerian Army Guards Brigade, Army Headquarters Garrison, Commanding Officer, 7 Guards Battalion, Traditional Rulers, Chairman Bwari Local Council Area, Chairman IDPs Bwari, Kanuri Cheif Representating Borno/Yobe, Refugees from Borno and Yobe in Bwari, Bwari Are council Residents among others.
