Military Games: Niger Republic to Host 2nd Edition of Sahel Game For Peace and Solidarity

 

Niger Republic will host the second edition of the Sahel Game for Peace and Solidarity 2023.

The President of the Organisation of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA), Major General Abdullahi Maikano, who is currently on a working visit to Niger Republic said in an interview with Spye News on Wednesday that after a closed-door meeting with the Niger Minister of Defence Alkassoum Indattou, and Chief of Defence Staff Major General Salifou Modi, the Sahel Military Game 2nd Edition will be hosted by Niger come October.

According to Major General Maikano Abdullahi, the purpose of the visit is to discuss the possibility of hosting of Sahel Game for Peace and Solidarity 2023.

During the visit, the OSMA President visited the Niger Minister of Defence Alkassoum Indattou, Chief of Defence Staff Major General Salifou Modi, Minister of Sports and Cultural Development Sekou Doro Adamou and Ambassador of Nigeria to Republic of Niger AVM Mohammed Sani Usman. 

While receiving Major General MAIKANO Abdullahi, President of the Organization of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA) and Vice President of the International Council of Sports Mil ITARIAN (CISM) FOR AFRICA and his entourage, the on Wednesday, the Minister of National Defense Alkassoum INDATTOU said the fundamental objective of the organization Maj Gen Abdullahi heads is to promote sports activities and physical education among the Armed Forces of the member countries in order to promote the culture of peace, conducive to economic development and overall African grace. 

In view of its ideals, the organization was recognized and approved by the in African Union at the Sports Ministers' Conference from October 17-21, 2011 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. 

SPYE News reports that 14 African countries participated in the first edition of Sahel Military Games, dubbed “Sporting for Peace and Solidarity” which was hosted by Nigeria in Abuja.

It would be recall that the OSMA flag was officially handed over to the Chadian Chief Delegate, whose country will be hosting the next edition of the games in 2022 but due to unforseen circumstances, Chad couldn't hold the 2nd Edition.
