Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the just concluded July election in Osun State on Wednesday received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the state Governor-Elect.
The Issuing of Certificate of Return ceremony to the Governor And Deputy Governor Elect, of Osun State, Held At The INEC State Headquarters Media Center, Osogbo, Wednesday, regards 20th July 2022.
This is according to in consonance with the provision of Section 72 (Sub section 1 )which mandates INEC to issue a sealed Certificate of Return to the Governor-Elect and Deputy Governor-Elect within 14 days after declaration of result by the Returning Officer
In his remarks, the Supervising National Commissioner, Professor Kunle Ajayi commends and congratulate the good people of Osun on the peaceful way and manner in which they conducted themselves in the conduct of the just concluded Governorship election. The voter turn-out was large and there was no major electoral violence incidence recorded.
Prof Ajayi said with the successful conduct of the Osun State governorship election, the Commission would like to assure Nigerians that this has become the standard of Election Management in Nigeria.
He said under the leadership of the Hon. Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, we are consistent in achieving our vision to become one of the best election management bodies in the world and acting on our core values of; independence, impartiality, neutrality and transparency.
The Supervising National Commissioner thanked every stakeholder that contributed towards the successful conduct of the election, from the National Peace Committee, to developmental partner IFES, the ever present Traditional Rulers, the Inter-agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), the outstanding members of staff of INEC Osun State office under the stewardship of the Resident Electoral Commissioner Prof. Raji and supported by his Administrative Secretary Mr. Alani Odutan.
