Army Personnel Storm Bwari Community Offers Free Medical Services, Palliatives To Thousands of Residents, IDPs

In a bid to provide a good platform to cement relationship between the military and the civil populace, the Commanders Nigerian Army Guards Brigade in conjuction with Army Headquarters Garrison on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff  on Wednesday conducted a free medical outreach and distribution of palliatives to the less privileged at Bwari Local Council Area of the Federal Capital Territory as well as Internally Displaced Persons Living in the community.

In his opening remarks, the Commanding Officer, 7 Guards Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Salim Yusuf Hassan said despite the security challenges, ranging from the fight against insurgency in the North East, militancy in the Niger Delta, kidnappings and other internal security challenges, the Nigerian army has still been able to hold his head very high. 

He said, the gesture is to showcase Nigerian Army in the light of the achievement in serving the Nigerian people and to reflect as well as recommit to the core values that made the Nigerian army the pride of the nation, most importantly, the celebration is also aimed at projecting the Nigerian Army as an instrument of national unity and integration. 

He uged civilians at the area council to continue to support the Nigerian army, especially in the fight against insurgency and other crimes. 

In his word, the Commander of the Nigerian Army Guards Brigade, Brigadier General Mohammed Takuti Usman, ably represented by the Chief of Staff, Colonel Oludele Paul Oyegoke reiterate the commitment of the Nigerian Army in ensuring safety for the people of Bwari Council Area and the IDPs living among them. He noted that, some IDPs from Borno, Yobe and some parts of North East and West who were displaced relocated to the area to settled.

Also speaking the Commander Army Headquarters Garrison Major General KN GARBA ably representated by Colonel JN Attahiru said the society is part of Nigerian Army and this is the best time to promote the civil military relations for another operations. "We need the society to forge ahead in fighting the insurgency in the country", he said.

Speaking with SpyeTV, the Traditional Ruler, His Royal Highness, the Sarkin (Emir) of Bwari, Alhaji Musa Ijokoro (II) lauded the Nigerian Army and the the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya for efficiently dealing with emerging security challenges facing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the country at large.

The Chairman, Bwari Area Council Hon. Dr John Gabaya commended the Nigerian Army, adding that the country must continue to appreciate and acknowledge the patriotic contributions and sacrifices of the officers and soldiers in the fight against Boko Haram, insurgency, kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery, terrorism and other forms of criminality across the country.

The themed of this year's NADCEL is “Repositioning the NA in the Joint Operations Environment: A Panacea for Success in Addressing Contemporary Security Challenges”, is scheduled to hold in Imo State from 1st to 6th of July. 

The Nigerian Army Day celebration is an annual event held on 6th July every year in honour of personnel of the Nigerian Army, especially those that have lost their lives.

Dignitries at the event were the representatives of Commanders Commanders Nigerian Army Guards Brigade, Army Headquarters Garrison, Commanding Officer, 7 Guards Battalion,  Traditional Rulers, Chairman Bwari Local Council Area, Chairman IDPs Bwari, Kanuri Cheif Representating Borno/Yobe, Refugees from Borno and Yobe in Bwari, Bwari Are council Residents among others.
