National Defence College New Delhi India Solicits For Enhanced Collaboration with Nigerian Army

The National Defence College New Delhi India has solicited for enhanced collaboration with Nigerian Army.

The delegation team leader, Major General Rajesh Moghe made this known when he led his team who were on a study to 81 Division Nigerian Army to strengthen collaboration.

Speaking on the purpose of the visit, Major General Rajesh said it was to expose the course participants to the military culture and operational activities in Nigeria. 

In his words "on the purpose the visit, we want the course participants to have knowledge on how the Nigerian Army particularly 81 Division Nigerian Army is working, what operations are being undertaken and how the Division is performing the operations and what experience can be learnt and shared. 

He disclosed that the already existing relationship which made it possible for the course participants to be visiting Nigeria would be further deepened for the good of both countries and there after formulate strategies that will help to strengthen the Military as a whole.

The participants were later briefed by Colonel Jerry Maigari   on the activities of the Division which include the various operations undertaken by the Division within Lagos and Ogun States. This was followed by an interactive session where issues concerning operational operandi of the Division was clarified.

The delegation from National Defence College New Delhi India were warmly received by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Maj Gen Umar Musa at the Division Conference Room.

In his remarks the GOC 81 Div Major General Musa welcomed the delegation to Headquarters 81 Division and said the Division was one of the Divisions in charge of security and protection of the south western flank of the Nigerian border. 

He further disclosed that the Division carries out its missions in collaboration with the Nigerian Navy (NN). 

In his words the “Nigerian Navy carries out its missions on the high sea while the Nigerian Army supports them with amphibious operations within the coaster areas of the south western flank of Nigerian border. 

He noted that this collaboration has been able to stabilise security in the general area of Lagos and Ogun States.

Highlights of the visit included presentations of souvenirs from the host and the visiting team as well as a group photograph.
