INEC Unveils Regulations and Guidelines For Conduct Of 2023 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC today 3rd June 2022 unveiled the Regulations and Guidelines which constitutes the Electoral Legal framework to govern the conduct of 2023 General Election.

INEC Chairman,  Professor Mahmood Yakubu made the presentation in Abuja during an Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) Meeting at INEC Headquarters, Abuja to review the security arrangements for Ekiti Election and to review situation with the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) and the Commissioner of Police (CP) and to discuss on the state of readiness for the election.

Professor Yakubu explained that the Legal Framework was drafted from the new 2022 Electoral Act and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as ammended.

The INEC Chairman noted that in the next couple of weeks, a training manual would be presented to the public with focus on Electoral Administration, Logistics, Training and Voter Education.

He therefore solicited the support of all security agencies in carrying out these assignments.

As the Continue Voter Registration will stop by the end of this month, the INEC Chairman said all registration Centers closed down due to insecurity would be opened.
