... lauds Nigerian Army For Resilience
The Nigeria's security Challenges is not only about physical security but there are human and environmental dimensions to insecurity problem in some trouble States.
The Director General, National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, (NIPSS) Professor Ayo Omotayo said this on Tuesday 31 May 2022, when he led top management staff of the institute on a courtesy visit to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya at the Army Headquarters Abuja.
Professor Omotayo said, the NIPSS have been engaging with all security agencies in order to ensure that there is a lasting solution to security challenges of insecurity in Nigeria, adding that, reason why NIPSS have been trying to bring up ideas for every agencies is bring into plan for Nigerian and security as a whole.
He lauded the Nigerian Army on the achievements so far recorded in the fight against terrorism, urging the troops not to relent until the adversaries are defeated
"As an institute, we recognize that Nigerians have been going through trying times but over the years, the Nigerian Army had been at the forefront of not only playing significant role in the Nigeria but also in West Africa through peace keeping.
"We are not relenting as we recently had a parley of some other issues confronting Nigeria this time. We have held seminars and outcomes of our seminars and researches have been made available to security forces which they will find very useful", he added.
The DG commended the Nigerian Army for not diminishing in the task given to them, thanked the Nigerian Army for providing knowledgable and supportive and corporative personnel from the army to NIPSS who have carried the flag of the Nigerian army and served meritoriously in NIPSS, noting that the Army has been partnering in providing logistics support to facilitate the operations of the institute.
The DG seized the opportunity to invite the Chief of Army Staff to its next Defence and security week in August 29th 2022 to look at all dimensions to security issues in Nigeria. He said other critical stakeholders in matter of security will be invited to the Defence and Security week. He ommended the Nigerian Army for building participants quarters, block of flats at the Institute which is about to be completed.
Responding, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya congratulated the DG on his appointment and appreciated the institute for the qualitative human development of the Army's future leaders.
Gen Yahaya assured that the Nigerian Army will continue to support the institute to promote national development. The COAS donated a utility vehicle to the institution in appreciation of her contribution to capacity development of Nigerian Army officers.
Present at the visit were Principal Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters and Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Management and Directing Staff of the institute, amongst others.
