Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum has concluded plans to finally relocate the internally displaced persons and refugees taking refuge in Bosso, Niger Republic, back to Malam-Fatori, headquarters of Abadam Local Government Area in Northern Borno.
Spye News reports that, governor Zulum who had visited Malam-Fatori four times, inaugurated a committee for the resettlement of internally displaced persons and refugees that were indigenes of Abadam Local Government to Malamfatori, the local government headquarters.
The governor, in order to actualise this, had also build 1000 temporary accommodation for the IDPs before completing their permanent houses.
Abadam local government was one of the local governments overran and under the control of Boko Haram at the peak of the expansionist agenda of the terrorist group.
Many of its residents had to flee into the mainstream Nigeria and neighbouring West Africa countries bordering the country in the North East.
According to a Counter Insurgency Expert Zagazola Makama, Malum Fatori town had surffered indiscriminate attacks within the past few months. This was after the ISWAP vowed to defend any encroachment into what it describes as its Daula (caliphat). The military have also defeated the insurgents in the town on several basis.
The latest attack on the town was in March 29 when ISWAP 20 guntrucks/ motorcycles stormed the base after mobilising many fighters from Kangarwa- Madayi- Shuwaram-and Dogon Chikun, killing two members of the Civilians Joint Task Force and three soldiers.
