The
Defence Headquarters has organised a lecture on Human Rights and Gender
Policy for military personnel of Operation Delta Safe at Python Officers' Mess, 6 Division
Nigeria Army, Port Harcourt Barracks in Rivers State.
Air Commodore
OO Akinsanya (rtd) who led the team on Friday said the lecture is aimed
at sensitizing personnel on prohibition and prevention of torture,
inhuman and degrading treatment, gender policy for the armed forces, and
sexual exploitation and abuse.
Present at the lecture were the GOC 6 Division Maj. Gen. SG Mohammed represented by the Chief of Staff 6 Division Port Harcourt Brig-Gen KE Chigbu, Senior officers and soldiers from formations and affiliated units of 6 Division and participants from the Navy and Air Force in Rivers State.
There was a presentation of souvenirs and an inspection of detention facilities at the Division as part of the exercise.
