Cristiano Ronaldo Set for Manchester United Return After Man City Rule Out Transfer

Cristiano Ronaldo is lined up for a sensational return to Manchester United after Manchester City declared they have no interest in signing the player.

The 36-year-old was being tipped for a move to the Blues after making it plain he wants to leave Juventus — and the Italian club want him off their wage bill.

City sources say that Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes offered the player to them, but after looking at it as a possible option following the collapse of their pursuit of Harry Kane, have not gone any further.

City’s examination of the possibility did not get as far as being a definite plan, and they today pulled the plug on the chances.

United responded to the news of City’s interest and are now in prime position to step in and take him back to Old Trafford 12 years after he left to join Real Madrid.

MEN Sport reported that the Glazers were keen to hijack the move and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggested in his press conference that he wouldn't rule out a Ronaldo return.

The news of City’s decision to not pursue a possible 20-30million euros move came shortly after manager Pep Guardiola said that a move was “far, far away” and that Ronaldo himself would decide where he went to play next - but then tantalisingly said that anything can happen in the next four days before the transfer window shuts.

Ronaldo is believed to be on around £500,000 a week in Turin after a stellar career with Sporting Lisbon, United and Real Madrid.
