OsinbajoInEbonyi

Many have described as commendable, the visit to Ebonyi State by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, in the aftermath of the Egedege attack.

The VP, while in Ebonyi State condemned the attacks, and sympathized with the victims, describing the attack as "cowardly, wicked, and very deeply distressing."

The VP's words to leaders of affected communities that justice will be served, to many, was the needed assurance and helped boost the people's confidence in the VP.

Prof Osinbajo said: "We will jointly pursue justice; we will also make provisions as much as possible between the Federal and State Governments for those who have lost their lives and valuables on whatever can be done to help those communities."

Over 12,000 comments crowned the trend.

IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is alleged to have killed 13 traders in Enugu and Imo in the last 1 week.

Those who made the allegation also claimed that IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu is trying to destroy the economy of the South East.

They also chided people who celebrate whenever IPOB carried out attacks on security formations, fearing that when they are done with the police, they will turn to the defenseless civilians and make the streets in the South East hell with those guns.

They called on some responsible and influential leaders in the South East to rise and call IPOB to order before these senseless attacks plunge the country into another war.

Over 50,000 reactions followed the trend.

Owerri, Imo State

Reports of overwhelming attack on security and law enforcement establishments in Owerri, Imo State has been described as worrisome.

Concerned Nigerians who took to social media to react to the development listed the State CID and the Nigeria Custodial Center in Owerri as some of the security formations targeted in the latest attack.

According to them, the perpetrators seem to have carried out the dastardly act unchallenged for over 75 minutes with a discharge of high-calibre weapons and explosives.

A tweep, @TheHolyman lamented that "The insecurity in Nigeria used to be about the civilians as victims... Now it is touching the security operatives... Very soon it will reach the political class. If you don’t clean your ass in time, it will become food for house flies."

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police has blamed the attack on security agencies in Imo State on IPOB’s security operatives.

The trend got about 3,700 reactions.

Tunde Bakare

Pastor Tunde Bakare has stirred up controversy on social media for tweeting "God told me Buhari was coming to stabilise Nigeria."

Bakare's statement attracted series of hilarious and unprintable comments from a cross-section of Nigerians who reacted.

While some opined that the prophecy could not have emanated from God, others said Pastor Bakare is someone who flourishes in controversial comments, and that his prophecy bespeaks its opposite in view of contemporary realities.

The trend generated 7,620 reactions.

Bishop Kukah

The Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah, has come under criticism after alleging in his Easter message that insecurity especially terrorism has degenerated since 2015 President Buhari came into power.

But some who disagreed with the clergyman said Nigerians love one another, and that ordinarily, they will not have any reason to kill, if not through inducement by some bloodthirsty politicians.

Meanwhile, the presidency has described the bashing of Buhari’s administration by Bishop Kukah as ungodly.

The trend generated over 6,500 tweets.

Diezani

Diezani Madueke came up on the trend after her cousin put out his son on a London street with a 'protest sign' calling Buhari wicked!

Many who took to social media to react slammed the former Petroleum Minister, saying the same Diezani made sure there was no 2nd Niger Bridge, railways, roads, electricity, water, hospitals, bridges, and all infrastructure needed to make life meaningful.

A Twitter user, @aktogbaskey, queried "What impact did Diezani make when she was in the corridors of power? Anyone bearing that name should be ashamed of their family bcos that name has been soiled."

Another user, @Equityoyo said, "Diezani Alison-Madueke has been in London for 6 years, they couldn't protest against her but suddenly find a voice against Buhari."

Also, @AkinteComrade said, "People that can't protest against Diezani in London who looted over $90billion are protesting against PMB."

El-Rufai

Nigerians have voiced support for Kaduna State governor, Nasir El'Rufai, who said “The only option any civilised society has when it faces criminals is to apply the full weight of the law. No society sits and negotiates with criminals."

El'Rufai stated this while speaking on Channels Television's Sunrise Daily.

Reacting to the governor's statement, some said that negotiating with criminals means "we’re surrendering our sovereignty", adding that "when criminals claim that their actions are due to a political wrong, both the civilised and the uncivilised negotiate. However, we don’t have to redefine what a crime is in order to settle with the criminal."

@Abbati33 said: "I agree with the Governor to an extent, while I didn't to another extent. Military or kinetic means to address the issue of insecurity will only calm it down but not stop it. When you make some progress using the military then call them to a table and discuss with them."

@CasimirEngr tweeted: "Why my love for Gov. El-Rufai would never look downward. His boldness and guts second to none. There should be no room for rationality or emotion in dealing with these monsters called bandits, killer herdsmen, kidnappers, and Boko Haram terrorists."
