The immediate past Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen TY Buratai said, he left the Nigerian Army better than he met it.
He made this declaration during his Pulling Out Ceremony in his honour on Thursday in Abuja saying, the Nigerian Army under his leadership was able to achieve great feat in the fight against insurgency in the country.
In his valedictory speech, Buratai said, the country may be experiencing pockets of threats here and there but he can confidently say that no part of Nigeria is seeded to any terrorist groups or criminals.
He added that the Nigerian Army have continued to improve on means of tackling the dynamic nature of the threats in the country.
"The Nigerian Army has remain resolute in its discharge of his role as inscribe in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria" he said.
He emphased on some of his achievements especially in the area of training and welfare that during the period of his leadership, he ensure that training is giving a desire attention in the Nigerian Army as well as standards in the Nigerian Army training institutions.
"Since my assumption of my command, I ensure that effective and efficient health care delivery services were provided to personnel and their families as well as retired personnel. Several hospitals and medical facilities were constructed and equipped to provide specialized services in various aspects of medicines" he said.
He also added that he authorized treatment abroad and private sevices when it required.
Buratai also stressed that the greatest area of impact in the last 5 years was in the area of infrastructural development in the Nigerian Army, every Cantonments and Barracks across the country benefits in the is infrastructural development.
He therefore appreciate all Soldiers in the Nigerian Army, Nigerians, members of the press for making his tenure memorable.
He therefore urged the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff to maintain the momentum and the presssure to flush out the terrorist in the North East.
As the tradition in Military, the Pulling out Ceremony includes march past by officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army, also featured the unveiling and launching of the book entitled “The Legend of Buratai”.
In his word while launching the book titled "The legend of Bututai Volume 2" Minister of Defence Retired, Maj. Gen Bashir Magashi described the former Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen TY Buratai has a dedicated Army Officer who started from an humble beginning and rose to the peak of his career in military.
He said, "it is my hope that this book will inspire young people to greatness".
The minister said, the book was a chronicle of the life and times of Lietenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai while growing up, said the book would inspire young people on attaining to greater height in life, urged readers to take their time to digest it, noting that all the narratives in the book were true story.
The side attraction at the event includes the 2million Naira donation by the Governor of Borno State to launch the book
At the epoch event, top dignitaries His Royal Highness, the Emir of Biu, his hometown, His Royal Majesty the Olowo of Kuta the executive state Governor of Borno State, representatives from the Senate, Representative from the house of representatives, as well as Lt Tukur Buratai's course mates 29 Regular Course.
