Maina
Nigerians are reacting to the arrest of former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Mr Abdulrasheed Maina, who is facing a 12-count money laundering charge levelled against him and a firm by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to reports, intelligence operatives in collaboration with men of the anti-corruption agency in Nigeria on Monday evening, arrested Maina, in a town in Niger Republic.
A cross-section of Nigerians who reacted to the development, lauded the Federal Government for ensuring that Maina was brought to justice for what they described as a crime against senior citizens of the country.
They also slammed Senator Ali Ndume for standing in as surety for a fugitive, who according to them, inflicted serious pain on pensioners whose lives depended on their pension.
Religious Fanaticism
Nigerians have taken to social media to decry the pervasiveness of religious fanaticism in the society, and how it has impacted the fabric of social, political, economic and cultural life of an average Nigerian
They said religious fanaticism has done more harm than good to society as a whole and that it was high time for it to be seriously checked, fearing it might one day tear the country apart.
They averred that because of it, many Nigerians have been kept in perpetual servitude by religious leaders, while some politicians have exploited it to serve their ends, sometimes pitting one religious group against the other.
INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was up on the trend following Senate's approval of the nomination of Professor Mahmud Yakubu for reappointment as Chairman.
While congratulating Prof Yakubu, many Nigerians who reacted said the confirmation presents an opportunity for him to improve on the innovations being introduced by INEC.
They urged him to ensure that the Commission puts in place adequate modalities to ensure the conduct of a free, fair, and credible election, starting with the December 5 bye-elections across the country.
