A 23-year-scavenger, Aliyu Riyanu, on Tuesday
appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates' Court for allegedly stabbing a man
with a knife following an argument.
The accused, who lives at 23, Bola Market St.,
Agege, a suburb of Lagos, is being tried for grievous harm.
The prosecutor, Insp.
Clifford Ogu told the court that the offence was committed on March 7 at
Moricas Bala Street, Agege.
According to him, a
fight ensued between the accused and Mustapha Abubakar over whose turn to fetch
water.
The offence contravened
Section 244 (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not
guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Taiwo Akanni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two
sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case
to March 30 for mention.
