Nollywood director and actor Nobert Oguegbu popularly called Wasky and his family members survived a kidnap attempt in Asaba Delta State last weekend.
In an exclusive chat with the entertainer, he narrated how he escaped from some kidnappers in Asaba last week.

“It all started around 8 pm on Saturday, August 8. I was on my way back from Aguleri, Anambra State, where I’d gone to join thousands of well wishers of Governor Willie Obiano in a thanksgiving mass to celebrate his birthday. My wife and children joined me at Coker area of Asaba, Delta State, and we proceeded to a popular super market along Summit Road to pick a few items on our way home.”
“We noticed a vehicle slowing down so we became cautious thinking it might be armed robbery operation going on few meters away. Immediately the vehicle, a Highlander SUV double crossed us and a young man, wielding a short gun alighted and came towards me threatening to shoot us.
“He demanded the car keys to the Honda CRV SUV belonging to my wife, which I gave him and then he ordered me to come down and I obeyed but he reversed the order, demanding that I enter the vehicle and sit at the passenger front seat where my wife and one of my sons were sitting.”
“I was to learn that the gun failed him when he tried shooting me. He attempted to start the car to drive out with my entire family but the car refused to start as well.
“He became enraged, threatening to kill my entire family but my wife continued to beg, pleading and shouting Blood of Jesus! The young man held my eldest son and tried to drag him away but my wife held him firmly, insisting that he should kill them there.”
He says that at that point, the kidnapper’s colleague at the wheels of their vehicle became impatient and agitated and ordered the kidnapper to act fast! Realising that time was running out, the kidnapper suddenly jumped into their get-away car and they fled.
However, they had taken his wife’s hand bag containing her personal valuables and the Honda CRV keys before a police patrol team from A Division of Nigerian Police Force, Asaba Delta State, arrived at the scene in two Toyota Hilux vehicles.
